Today we're featuring «And The Kids» albums released to date, as a very good example of how the time flow helps to emphasize what was pretty obvious by the time both albums were released: they are genuine masterpieces.
“Turn to Each Other” and “Friends Share Lovers” still sound fabulous and keep delivering the most gorgeous sensations. I can't sincerely see both these albums as separate entities considering that they somehow seem to work out or have been crafted as Part One and Two of the same opus. A dark side and a not so much dark side though both extremely nostalgic of the past and the future. The nostalgia of anxiety.
One of the most appealing thing in these two albums is the way the band managed, unconsciously i believe, to connect with a wide range of different listeners from Generation X to Generation Y with a mix of life experiences with which people can really relate to, in spite of the algorithmic circumstance and peculiarity of the roads taken and not taken by each individual. There is a strong feeling of timelessness springing from song to song.
These two albums could perfectly be one. One double album. It would be one of those cases where less is more would be a fallacy. Both these albums are bridged together with a peculiar lyrical intensity and musical inventiveness that enables the listener to enjoy an amazing set of dope, soulful, hit songs. The listening experience of albums One and Two by «And The Kids» share a singular sense of complement and aesthetic coherence that reminds those prog rock albums of the early 70s that were a musical story telling of myth and reality. And The Kids sound fascinatingly good.
Time is the magnum pressure test and while there are loads of albums, many of them recently release, that are unbearable to listen just a few months after being released, on the contrary these two «And The Kids» albums pass the test with a rewarding brilliance that will make them live forevermore.
